 | From Lourdes I drive to the small lake of Barrage d'Ossoue, the last kilometers are bumpy.
I park my car.

|
 | A footbridge brings you to the other side of Gave d'Ossoue and then you have a view of the lake.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | There is a well trail to
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | Cabane de Lourdes.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | From the cabane climbing along this stream SSW (no trails) to
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | this small and peaceful lake (Lac du Cardal).
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | Then a (cattle) trail brings you to
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | Col du Cardal where bm316 is engraved at a rock above the pass.

|
 | The rock of bm316.

|
 | Bm316
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | Bm316
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | Bm316 with a view to the pass (no name on the maps, sometimes referred to as 'Col de Lourdes') where bm316-fake can be found.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | Then I start my traverse of the mountainside between bm316 and 317.
I have seen tracks on maps like OSM and Topopirineos and read accounts. I want to try it by myself.
That would be the shortest way between both bordermarkers.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | There are tracks which you can follow but after 1/3 of the route there is more of a continuous path.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | That is important at 2 spots: the crossing of this rockslide
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | and this one.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | You will arrive in one hour at Col de la Bernatoire with a magnificient view of the Lac de la Bernatoire.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | Bm317 is easy to find nowadays
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | because of the white marble plate
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | besides the cross and number itself.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | For me it's unclear why this borderpass was chosen for the memorial plate.
Every borderpass with a bordermarker is a 'lieu de passage historique Franco-Espagnol'.
I know one other borderpass with the same memorial plate: bm321 at Port de la Canau.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | The cross and especially the number are a bit difficult to read.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | The lake again.
I take a break at the lake-side
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | and start descending into Spain.
That is a very very long descent, my right foot hurts.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | The
trail brings me in the end down in the valley in the hamlet of
Bujaruelo. Somewhere along the final part, you can go left and climb to
Port de Boucharo (bm319). In between you can leave the trail and make a
detour via bm318.
This picture shows a possible shortcut. Picking up high-voltage pylons,
and following them, you will reach Col des Espécières with bm318. I did
that route on 26-8-2010.
But it is probably easier to follow the trails as described above.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | Crossing the stream and
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | about 200m downhill, this bifurcation: right to the hamlet of Bujarruelo and left to Port de Boucharo (bm319).
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | Arriving at Bujaruelo which has a bar and a camping.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | But no bar for me, it's already 4 pm.
I continue NE, now at the GR11-trail.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | That remains for a long time a dirtroad,
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | passing a monument for a rescue worker,
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | and continuing until
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | this shepherd's cabin where the dirtroad ends.
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | The GR11-trail leads me further
(click photo to enlarge)
|
 | until it's time to find a spot for my tent.
It has been a tiring day. Rain in the evening.
