Bm196

And why once again?

Bm196 has been buried under the ground for many years.

But Jan-Willem Doomen and me found it back on 31 may 2013 and later it was lifted above the ground. So I feel a bit like the godfather of this  bordermarker.

See this page for the chain of events since our first searches.

Bm196 is still there

in danger of getting overgrown.

Then driving to Col d'Ispeguy where it starts raining.

So first a lunch with French fries, sausages and fried eggs.

(click photo to enlarge)
Then I take a new trail (red-white waymarked) along the hillside

(click photo to enlarge)
which climbs finally

the plateau of Col d'Elhorrrieta. with bm102 in the background.

Bm102, still in good shape.

Then my real target no. 1: bm101.

Nothing has changed since my last visit in april 2022.

Then target no. 2: also with bm100 nothing has happened since 2022.

The bm has been broken off and has disappeared.

Who cares?

Then to the shattered bm098.

(click photo to enlarge)
You have to know where you can find the bits and pieces.

(click photo to enlarge)
And that is on this spot, in the middle of a bunch of high grass.

(click photo to enlarge)
Close to a fenced field.

(click photo to enlarge)
In april 2022 I found in this grass-spot the base of the bm, still in the ground.

But the loose bits and pieces were lying a bit further. I reunited them.

One of the pieces - the brown one - shows the groove which we see at the top of these markers, showing the direction of the borderline.

In the circle the bunch of grass of bm098.

I drive to the Camping Municipal Irouléguy in Saint-Étiènne-de-Baïgorry.

Tomorrow will be a day of rest. Also because of the rain.
