Yesterday I drove from Bossóst to Tavascan.

That's where I meet Carlos and Conchita Rocia. We stay in hotel Estanys Blaus.
Carlos & Conchita have hired a 4x4 taxi to the barrage-lake of Estany de Romeda de Baix.

That saves us about 7 km climbing on mountain roads.

(click photo to enlarge)
This is the barrage and at the other side of the dam

(click photo to enlarge)
we start climbing.

(click photo to enlarge)
First through a sort of canyon with already a first view

(click photo to enlarge)
on Port d'Aulús where bm425 is engraved.

(click photo to enlarge)
But first we will 'do' bm424.

After the 'canyon' we continue on the red waymarked trail uphill to

(click photo to enlarge)
a sort of plateau or high valley

(click photo to enlarge)
where we keep on climbing N (no trails anymore)

(click photo to enlarge)
in a rocky terrain and past small lakes.

(click photo to enlarge)
This the ridge where we are heading for.

More or less in the middle

(click photo to enlarge)
is Port de Guiló with bm424.

(click photo to enlarge)
Bm424 is not an easy find between all the rocks.

Though the pass is well recognizable as such, the engraving of cross and number have weathered.

Bm424, looking towards France.

(click photo to enlarge)
Looking back at the vally where we came from.

(click photo to enlarge)
Bm424, now looking ± NW, the ridge is the border.

(click photo to enlarge)
Now we start our traverse to bm425.

About 200m to the S is a sort of pass in the ridge

(click photo to enlarge)
and just after crossing that pass, you can already see where to head for NE.

(click photo to enlarge)
Then it's a matter of trial and error in traversing the mountainside.

In general you have to stay at the same elevation while connecting the grassy patches,  only descending in the last part.

Thus stay above the level of bm425, only descending in the end.

(click photo to enlarge)
Climbing a bit or descending a bit is inevitable 'en route' in order to go from one grassy spot to another.

(click photo to enlarge)
The Port d'Aulús is gettng closer.

(click photo to enlarge)
And then we can spot well the large boulder on which bm425 is engraved.

From bm424 tot 425 will take ± 1:15 hour.

(click photo to enlarge)
In between, this view downhill with in the far end the barrage-lake.

We will descend to these lakes.

(click photo to enlarge)
But first the boulder with bm425.

A well deserved lunch-break.

(click photo to enlarge)
We have descended to the first lake and look back to Port d'Aulús

(click photo to enlarge)
with a zoom-in to the boulder of bm425.

(click photo to enlarge)
The barrage-dam in view

(click photo to enlarge)
and a bit beyond it, we wait for an hour for our 4x4-taxi.

(click photo to enlarge)
After the bumpy drive downhill, we enjoy our victory-beer.

(click photo to enlarge)
At night, Carlos and Conchita

(click photo to enlarge)
can erase 424 and 425 from their to-do list.

(click photo to enlarge)
The next day, I drive to Lourdes for 2 days of relaxing.

For the first time since many years, I stay on a camping (camping du  Loup)

(click photo to enlarge)
That is because my favourite hotel d'Annécy closed ± 2 years ago.

For old time's sake, I have a look at the premises. Everything is closed and barred.

It gives a sad feeling again but that is how life is: everything changes and all things have a beginning and an end.

(click photo to enlarge)
And to be honest, I'm content on the camping. Only a short walk to the center and it's gives more freedom.

I enjoy the peace and spirit of Lourdes again.

However, I get the impression that their are less visitors nowaday and I see more shops and hotels closed.
