 | Early breakfast at camping La Hounta and

 | an early start from the barrage d'Ossoue.
(click photo to enlarge)
 | The barrage-lake is beautiful, in the far distance the high mountains near the Vignemale.
(click photo to enlarge)
 | An easy trail (towards Cabane de Lourdes) brings us
(click photo to enlarge)
 | to the bifurcation where we turn sharp to the right and start climbing W in the early sunlight.
(click photo to enlarge)
 | The trail leads us past the N-side of the Pic Rond and
(click photo to enlarge)
 | then we see already the Port du Pla d'Aube (bm315).

 | Zoom-in to Port du Pla d'Aube (bm315).
(click photo to enlarge)
 | But we can also see the other pass to visit: the one with bm316-fake.
From 315 we will descend a bit back and then traverse the foothills towards 316-fake.
(click photo to enlarge)
 | We pass a herd of sheep
(click photo to enlarge)
 | while zooming-in to the pass of 316-fake.
(click photo to enlarge)
 | But first up to bm315. Carlos and Conchita are following me.
(click photo to enlarge)
 | Having arrived at the Port, on this rock
(click photo to enlarge)
 | my crayon of yesterday is still well visible.
As you can see, the 3 and 5 are in mirror writing. There are a few more similar cases, for example bm426.
It is assumed that the engraver in these cases was illiterate.

 | A short rest.
(click photo to enlarge)
 | We descend back and then start traversing along the mountainside towards bm316-fake.
(click photo to enlarge)
 | The traversing and climbing is not difficult
(click photo to enlarge)
 | but a bit tough in the final climbing to the pass.
(click photo to enlarge)
 | Finally the pass comes in view.
This borderpass has no name on any of the maps I know. But sometimes it is being referred to as "Col de Lourdes".
(click photo to enlarge)
 | And this is bm316-fake.
Vague painting on a rock, no engraving. The real bm316 is 500m to the SSE at Col du Cardal.
What is the story of this fake bm? It was probably painted by Spanish shepherds in an effort to legalize their border-crossing via this col.
The bordercrossing of spanish flocks was in this area restricted to the cols with bordermarkers 315, 316 and 317. See also the curiosities-page.

 | Well, our job is finished and we can descend to the scenic Lac du Cardal
(click photo to enlarge)
 | where
we have a relaxing lunch and I try some very long stockings. I bought
them for cold bivouac-nights but they are .... too long.
But they can enhance your visibility in the mountains and cheer up other walkers.

 | After the lunch, we descend in the direction of the Cabane de Lourdes
(click photo to enlarge)
 | And there we
(click photo to enlarge)
 | pick up the trail back to

 | the barrage d'Ossoue and the car.
(click photo to enlarge)
 | Back at camping La Hounta and celebrating our successes.
(click photo to enlarge)
 | The next day is a transfer-day.
To camping Le Lauzart in Lescun. It's cloudy and rainy over there.
(click photo to enlarge)
 | Carlos and Conchita have already arrived, stay in the gîtes and together we dine at night.
